Calibishie is located near the north end of the Atlantic (eastern) coast of Dominica.

The town's bay is very shallow and protected by a coral reef.

There's one spot in the bay deep enough for a swimming and diving platform.

There's a beach just north of the bay, and it's just about the only shallow, gentle Atlantic beach. Ruth is enjoying it, except for its crowds!

Like all Dominican beaches save one, the sand is black, made of crushed volcanic rock. It's exceedingly soft and fine and does not stick even though it appears like mud at first glance.
