The Layou is the largest of Dominica's rivers. Its magnificent valley
cuts through the central mountains, where the Layou runs into the
Caribbean at Saint Joseph.

Epiphytes (sometimes called "air plants") such as many orchids
grow upon others for support, but are not parasites. Their roots
don't penetrate soil; they take water from the air.
There's a national part at Morne Diabolatin. It houses not only
an exceedingly strenuous path to the island's highest peak, but also
a gentle walking loop that contains the valley overlook seen
above and a forest habitat of Sisserou parrots. Below are several
additional views of the Layou Valley.
