Yarmouth, Nova Scotia

Yarmouth was where we both began and ended our trip to Nova Scotia. The Scotia Prince steamed us there overnight from Portland ME. The trip takes 12, departing at 9:00 PM and arriving at 8:00 AM (gaining one time zone). It was nice to sleep (we took a small cabin with berths) and awaken at 8:00 AM rested and with our car at your destination, on July 1 -- Canada Day.

Our trip home was on "The Cat" a modern hydrofoil-catamaran car ferry that departs from the same terminal in Yarmouth and which crosses to Bar Harbor ME in about three and half hours, running at about 50 miles per hour.

Other ferries reaching Nova Scotia run from Digby NS to St. John NB and Between Pictou NS and Prince Edward Island.
